Advanced Car Control Academy
Go beyond today’s basic driver education, learn how to control your vehicle in a variety of conditions and road surfaces. You will receive one on one coaching from an instructor tailored to your skill set and driving goals. Training happens on one of our mixed surface venues in order to simulate a variety of low grip conditions. This is the perfect training to prepare you for winter road conditions, but can be taken at any time of year.
Students can select anywhere from 1 to 2 hours of in car training, one on one with an instructor. Additionally, they will receive 4 hours of advanced car control training through an optional online interactive classroom and steering training modules. This course can be taken multiple times, and instructors will continue to build on the learnings from the students previous time.
The aim of this course is precision driving, i.e. control over speed, no matter how tempting speed is!
When and Where?
These courses are held on our mixed surface venues. These venues simulate a variety of low grip conditions that drivers may encounter in the real world. This course is run year round but don't worry, our prepared venues can train you for winter driving, even in the middle of summer. See our schedule section for the next available course.
What Do I Need?
This course is designed for drivers with some previous driving experience and must be 16+ years of age. Students should be comfortable with driving and stopping a vehicle at slow to medium speeds. Don’t worry if you have no previous driving experience we offer a Young Drivers package too, to teach you the fundamentals of operating a vehicle. A drivers licence is not required for this course.
Should I Prepare Beforehand?
While not required, students are recommended to have previously taken out One and A Half Hour Course - The Basics or the Tow and A Half Hour skid pad course. Drivers can opt to take both the skid pad course and the advanced car control course in one day, for a full day experience.
Students are provided with a steering and setting tutorial prior to the start of the course. It is highly recommended that students review this material and practice in an empty parking lot prior to the start of the course.
Additionally, students have the option to take part in an interactive 3 hour interactive classroom ahead of time, with our lead instructor. Here we will cover the fundamental theories which students will practice during the course. This is also a chance for you to share stories and ask questions from our expert lead instructor.
The class is included with each package, it is optional, but recommended.
